The weekend is nearly upon us. Do you have plans? If not, maybe you are stuck in a lifestyle rut doing the same weekend chores that you always do, on the same days and at the same time as always. It’s time for a change. Add some spice and excitement to this weekend by doing something out of the norm.
It doesn’t have to be huge. Sometimes the most enjoyable things in life are the smallest. The point is to enjoy your weekend. It should be a time for taking a break from the hectic and busy weekday marathon. Weekends are for fun and we have some ideas for you to try this weekend to add some excitement to your life.
1. Go Out and About
Check out your town or city. Are there places you have always wanted to experience. If so then go. Go to a museum or to the local shopping mall. Take the kids and see a show or go to a sporting event. Visit a nature centre or the beach if one is close. Enjoy the city by day or soak up some nightlife by seeing an outdoor play under the stars or listening to some local bands.
If that is not something that you are up to this weekend then get out and about by visiting friends. Don’t talk to them on the phone or text back and forth. Visit local friends or family and catch up on life. Sometimes a visit over a cup of tea is all that is needed to refresh your spirit for the week ahead.
2. Finish a Home Project
Are there home improvement projects that you have been meaning to finish? Have you been saving them for a point in your life when you have more time? Here is a tip: you will probably never have more time in life, so rather do them now. Tackle that home improvement project this weekend and strive to finish it before the weekend is over.
Enlist the help of family and friends to make the job more fun or simply do it yourself if you need a little peace and quiet. Either way, you will feel that you have accomplished something stupendous when the job is finished and your home will look great.
3. Go on A Date
Whether you are single or have been married for twenty years, a date night is always a great idea. For singles, a date is a fun way to get out and meet new people. Enjoy the time away from your normal routine. For marrieds, a date night is a wonderful way to reconnect.
It is a few hours to get away and strengthen your relationship. It is a time to get back to the basics of your relationship and a time to make your marriage about just the two of you without the world and your lifestyle intruding.
The weekend is the perfect time to start a new exercise regimen. Start out slow and build up over the weeks. If you already have an exercise routine in place, shake things up a bit by doing something different. Go roller skating or bike riding. Go on a hike along a local trail.
Do stretching excercises as the sun rises or sets. Go ziplining or to a trampoline park. Why not try some horse riding at a nearby public stable? Try squash or go dancing. The choice is yours to get out and exercise and have some fun. Go with a group of friends or family for a great social time as you get healthy.
5. Art or Craft It
This is the perfect weekend to get in some crafting. You will be surprised at how therapeutic it is as it helps to calm our nerves and think clearly about things. You will also be surprised to learn how creative and talented you really are! Try an old favourite craft project or finish one that you have started. Or you can try a new art or craft project. Try to get outside you comfort zone to see how far your creative talents run. Paint a picture, do some sculpting.
Scrapbook or try your hand at sewing. Make some organic candles or soap. Think of the holidays coming up and some presents that you may want to make. Arts and crafts are fun. There is something truly magical about creating things with our hands and it will give you an added swell of pride when you have finished your project.
Whether you live in a flat with a small patio or in a house with a large backyard, there are gardening projects that can be done to make your limited space the perfect personal space for you. The internet is full of gardening and yard improvement ideas.
Try starting potted plants or begin a garden. Create a fairy garden for an enchanting look or plant some vining flowering plants to create a shaded bower. Gardening is a peaceful pastime and fun to do as a family or by yourself. With kids, it is also a great lesson in teaching them about caring for nature.
7. Read a Book
If all the above suggestions sound great but just too energetic, why not pour your favourite drink, find a quiet place and read a book. It is a simple way to find adventure and a fantastic way to unwind after a hectic week.
Finish that book that you haven’t had the time to finish or pick a new title. Try a new genre or a non-fiction book about a subject that interests you. Reading is a wonderful way to pass the time and rejuvenate your body and your mind.
There are thousands of superb ideas to find for this weekend’s entertainments. Look around your local area or check out the local newspaper for events. Choose a way to make this weekend fun and fabulous. Make it your own and have the time of your life!
